About Merit Badges
Merit Badges are a fundamental part of the Scouting Program. By working merit badge requirements, boys learn new skills, explore potential hobbies or career opportunities, and challenge themselves to do things they might not otherwise try. Merit badges can be earned at summer camp, during our annual outing called Merit Badge Blitz, or at any other time. Time is also set aside during Troop meetings and counselors are asked to attend to help a group of boys interested in the same merit badge.
All a boy has to do it make it known to his Scoutmaster that he wants to work on a particular merit badge, and if approved, he will receive a merit badge card (blue card) that indicates he can begin. Then, he needs to contact a counselor and make arrangements to work together on the requirements.
Below are some links to information about becoming a counselor and our current list of Troop 19 counselors, the merit badges they counsel, and their phone numbers.
Historical Merit Badges
The following 4 Historical Merit Badges can be earned only during calendar year 2010, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
